Hey there! My name is Martin Ronquillo and I want to welcome you to Papaya Meal Prep. At Papaya, our mission is to help you transform your life, one meal at a time!
We are NOT just a recipe blog. We create tools and content to get you into the right mindset so you can take charge of your life.
I now want to tell you a little more about myself. At first glance, I seem like an average millennial, but there’s a side of me that many people don’t know. I used to struggle with my weight and confidence.
For eight years, I tried to lose weight with many diets. Each time that I stopped a diet, I quickly gained all the weight back and then some. It wasn’t until 2013 that I realized that I needed to make a change.
It was this photo, taken in spring of 2013, that finally broke me. I realized that what I was doing was not working. Nearly a decade of trying random diets and workouts had led me to this. At my height of 5′ 6″, I was a few pounds from being considered obese. I had chronic body aches and was always bloated.
My poor physical state had a big impact on my confidence. I was ashamed for looking how I did and was uncomfortable with my body. In fact, I had always been uncomfortable with how I looked and how my clothes fit me. All through my school years, I was a chubby kid.
What’s more, I felt that I should be intelligent enough to figure out how to eat in a way that would allow me to be healthy. Since then, I’ve learned that I had the mental strength to change my life. What was missing was the tools and guidance for me to make the change that I wanted.
One night in late 2013, I was randomly browsing the internet, attempting to find ways to reinvent my life. I was depressed and couldn’t sleep. It was then, through reading many blogs on weight loss, that I discovered meal prep. Discovering meal prep transformed my life completely.
One year later, I weighed 55 pounds less. I was happier that I had ever been, and was well on my way to reaching my ideal physique.
In 2016, my buddy Norton and I partnered up with the goal of making healthy eating easier. We publish meal prep ideas, tips, and recipes on this website and we are also working on an app to make your meal planning easy. We personally have experienced the benefits that come with meal planning and meal prep, but we feel the pain of having to spend hours a week researching recipes and putting together our meal plans.
We are transforming lives, one meal at a time.
Our hope for is that we can give you the tools and information you need to spare you years of effort and disappointment. You have what it takes to take charge of your body and life! If you have two hours a week, you can do this!
